A LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR
Toledo, Glass City is one of Ohio's best kept secrets. Tucked in the NW corner of the state, it is home to one of the most creative and artistic communities in the state and country. Toledo is the fourth most populous city in the state, and there is a sense that something new an exciting is right around the corner for the city.
These are some of the reasons we fell in love with the city. Toledo wasn't on our radar when we set out to plant a church, but it was on God's radar for us. When we announced to friends and family that we were moving to Toledo to plant Anchor Church, the most common response we got from people was, "Why Toledo?" It's an uncommon location and most people don't know about this hidden gem in the state. But there is a great need for a church and many people to be reached.
There are are roughly 651,429 in the greater metropolitan area, and over 54% of those people don't affiliate with any spiritual body. Within the city's 84 square miles there are around 300,000 people, which translates to around 3,500 people per square mile. Toledo was hit hard with unemployment over the last few years, but there is an overall sense of love and hope for the community.
We believe God brought our family to Toledo because God is ready to ignite a movement, to advance the Good News of Jesus throughout this once booming metropolis. We believe Anchor is going to be a beacon of hope and light in the community and provide Good News to the people not only in the city but the surrounding communities.
"WE HAVE THIS AS A SURE AND STEADFAST ANCHOR OF THE SOUL, A HOPE THAT ENTERS INTO THE INNER PLACE BEHIND THE CURTAIN..."
We believe God is ready to work a miracle in the city of Toledo, and that our family is called by God to play a role in that. The gospel will only be advanced when people step out of what is comfortable and safe, and learn to walk in faith, resting on the promises of God. Our vision is clear and simple: to be a community that is led by grace, makes disciples of Jesus, and offers hope to all. We want to be a church that isn't about internal growth but a church that believes in multiplication. A church that ignites a passion in people to take the good news of the gospel into their homes, communities, jobs, and schools and share the Good News that has been given to us.
We won't stop until everyone knows the love and hope of the gospel, and that is in the hands of each and every one of us. Thank you for your support us as we launch into the unknown, believing in the mission God has placed on our hearts, and supporting Anchor through this time.
